I never paid much attention to how I covered leftovers.
A piece of cling wrap over a bowl. Some foil over a plate. It was just the last little job after dinner.
Until one evening, when that little job tested every bit of patience I had left.
The kitchen was finally clean. I was tired. All I wanted was to cover a bowl of leftover pasta and sit down.
I pulled out the cling wrap… and it folded onto itself.
I tried separating the edges. It tore.
So I pulled out another piece.
One bowl. Three attempts. A small pile of wasted plastic.
I opened the cupboard to find a container instead. Plenty of tubs. Plenty of lids. Somehow, none of them matched.
Standing there with pasta on the counter and lids scattered around me, I had a thought:
Why was putting dinner away taking more effort than it should?
I’d always treated tangled wrap and missing lids as part of having a kitchen.
But surely there was an easier way.
